Howdy everybody,
I'm pleased to announce that my Project Hasbro HMMWV is finally complete. Ever since I joined here at OSW, I've always wanted to turn a plain Jane Hasbro Humvee in to a museum quality model.
I was of course greatly inspired by Sawgunner aka Butch's work. I also decided to take on this project by my fellow members, who requested it be done with 3d printing. This is proof of concept.
It can be done. It is however just as expensive as Taowan or Go-Truck. You do have the satisfaction on doing it yourself. You can also modify it to be OOAK.
My Hasbro HMMWV turned out to be very expensive, because I had to order multiple prints of the same parts to get them perfect. If you can catch a good sale on Shapeways and order a little at a time, it can be done much cheaper.
I can safely say that any parts that you order from Shapeways will be close to perfect.
All 3d printed parts were designed by me, printed by Shapeways, painted and assembled by me. The sledge hammer is Hot Toys and the shovel was purchased at A.C. Moore. Other than the base model, everything else was created by me.
Of course it would not be complete without my kitbashed USMC Devil Dogs.
The engine detail is a kit from Mark at Patches of Pride which was greatly modified by me.
