Got my ES06006 KAC 7.62mm M110 Carbine Sets in today.

I will be focusing the review on sets A and B, Sphinx and Gryphon.

This time the box comes bathed in a gaudy orange hue.



The new method of labeling has carried over from E&S's MSE products ( Barrett Mrad) . The sticker folds over 2 sides of the box, so you will have to cut through the sticker and the 2 snowflake QC seals at the sides to access the box.

Of course we have the much welcomed Snowflake once we open the box up.



Here we have the goodies, Version A , B and D. Version C doesnt appeal to me at all, so i skipped that.



Seems like E&S is sticking to the chunky weapons rack for their normal weapon sets and reserving the newer weapon stands with attached magazine for the MSE weapon sets.



This is all you get , weapon, mags, rail covers, Trijicon Acog scope, PEQ laser, Surefire light, Magpul AFG-1 and the much anticipated canted offset T1 aimpoint sight.



The gun itself ! Not too shabby, in some of the official pictures, the handguard appears brown, it is actually black.





The front sight can be flipped up and sits flush with the rest of the rail when it is shut.



Lets look at all the fine details first.

Engraving on the weapon itself is fine and legible. At the same level as what we have seen on the m110 Fixed stock version ( ES06003 ) , i did a review on this weapon as well, you can read it CLICK HERE . i would think that almost eveything is the same as the previous release, with the exception of the telescopic butt stock vs the fixed butt stock on the old version.

its a bit hard to photograph the shimmering golden acog, so pictures of the black version are added in as well.





As you can see, very good tooling, but slipping a little on the printing here, cant make the words out, but well, lets face it, you cant see it LOL. if you cant see it, it cant bother you right ? haha



The ACOG dust covers are removable.



Alright ES, better buck up, i can hardly make out the words on the canted T1 Aimpoint, it was the same case with the T1 aimpoint with high mount that came with the ZERT Deathridge figure.



The sure fire scout light is a bust. You can see whats wrong from the photo below. Perhaps insufficient glue was used, but you can see the massive misalignment of the 2 halfs of the light. When i try to correct it, it feels like it is going to shear off and break into 2 , so i am just going to leave it like it. Perhaps it is a factory QC error ?





For the Magpul AFG-1 , i will compare it to the only other AFG-1 on the market, the ones that came with the Flagset figure, and lately with the VeryCool female figure ( camo version)

In the following pictures, the ES version is on the right.

From these close up shots, you can see that the E&S version definitely has more details, the grooves on the AFG-1 are more defined on the ES version, but the ES version suffers from some very nasty mold lines ( i think they are mold lines)





However the flagset version comes with a little more paint detail, with the black nuts on the AFG-1 painted in, while the ES version is just painted in a single color scheme.

Although the grooves on the ES version are more defined, i will have to give this one to Flagset, the nasty mold lines ( or reside paint ) on the ES version need to be looked into, extra paint details could also be added in .



For the EMOD Stock that comes with the KAC set A and B , it will be compared to the soldier story EMOD stock. Of course there is not much to discuss, the winner here is obvious, soldier story wins hands down. In the pictures below, the soldier story version is at the bottom, ES EMOD stock is on top.



The lack of details on the ES version is noticeable in the following shot.



Now for my favorite part, disassembly, there is only 1 take down pin to take care of, so once you have that out, the rest is pretty straight forward.



The fire selector can be removed, as can the URX rail and barrel. The front sight is held by a tiny pin, once you remove it, you can extract the front sight, be very careful, the pin here is extra tiny !

here is an extra picture of the KAC 7.62 SET B , Gryphon .
Set B is the FDE/ golden version that actually comes with a black ACOG and black AFG-1 ,
while Set A the Black rifle comes with a golden ACOG and FDE AFG-1.

While this gives some color contrast, if you are the sort that prefers one single color scheme on your rifle, you will have to get both versions. Sneaky ES, i just switched the accessories with Set A which comes with the Gold ACOG and FDE ? AFG-1 for a more matching color scheme.



Just before i conclude, here are some pictures of Set D, Serpent. Due to the extreme lack of time ( im in an incredibly busy period here) I will just state my brief thoughts on the SET D serpent that comes with the Magpul PRS stock

Here is everything different you get in the SET D, vertical sight, bipod, silencer, Nightforce scope and night sight.



Cheek riser on the PRS stock can be adjusted up and also the length can be slightly adjusted.



Detailing is great !

In all, i think that the KAC 7.62 weapon set is definitely very well made. Aside from some minor flaws such as the illegible printing on some parts or the bent surefire scout light, i will rank the KAC set among the top few sets that ES has pumped out. With quite a few much needed accessories on board, such as the Canted t1 aimpoint sight, ( ES is the first company to produce this neat and uber cool accessory) and the elusive magpul AFG-1. However i couldnt help but feel that the set would have looked more cool with another scope type, perhaps a nightforce instead of the trijicon from when they introduced the ES06001 M27 IAR.

It has been quite a while since E&S previewed any new weapon sets, being tied up probably with MSE products and the ES HALO jumper. With the KAC now on the market, i am curious as to what is next ?

Now time to see the KAC in use.







That sweet T1 canted aimpoint. I feel that the canted T1 aimpoint is sitting a bit too close to the rifle. maybe they could adjust it so that it could sit further out, as it is blocked a little by the huge trijicon scope.
