Reproduction. These were copied from an original, and are nearly exact in every detail. Marked "US" on the handle and neck of the blade. They are not made South-of-the-border, so you can actually use them for their intended purpose without bending the blade digging in the sandbox!

Short "T-Handle" Shovel, Airborne Version
Many of the standard length shovels were modified or produced in a shorter length for Airborne troops (measures 18.5"/47cm as opposed to the standard's 22"/56cm). Otherwise the same shovel as above.
Note: Not all paratroopers carried shortened T-handle. Many used the standard length which is easier to dig with..

M1943 Folding Shovels and Carriers
As the M1910 T-handle shovel was inconvenient to carry (that's the nice way to word it), the Quartermaster introduced a much improved entrenching tool in 1943. These were intended to replace the previous shovel, but the remaining stock of M1910's were to be issued until the supply was exhausted. Thus, it is historically correct for men in the same unit to carry a mix of the two shovels. Yes, Paratroopers used both types, side by side within the same unit. Both the M1910 and the M1943 were issued to all units irrespective of jump status. Individual soldiers certainly had preferences for on one the other, but they were all the same to the quartermaster.

Covers
Our M1943 covers are made just like the originals. The body is made from heavy #8 cotton canvas, edged with 1" binding tape and sewn with heavy khaki thread on Union Special brand walking foot machines from the 1940's. It is reinforced on the inside with leather panels and the bottom with heavy duty CE rivets. They will fit both original W.W.II (and postwar) U.S. issue shovels as well as the Dutch (and Belgian?) versions.
Shovels
Most of the shovels are U.S. W.W.II, but not all. Some are possibly Dutch, and others are U.S. However, since the majority have several coats of paint obscuring the markings it is difficult to tell what the hell they are. Dutch shovels simply lack the "US" stamp, which, due to the paint, is mostly illegible.

Stripping and refinishing them is not cost effective so we will not guarantee anything regarding origin, dates or markings. We will promise that these are the correct shovels and they are in good serviceable condition. Dutch and U.S. M1943 shovels are identical except for markings.

Entrenching Tool, M1943
The majority are WWII US issue. However, a few Dutch are mixed in. These are identical, except for the dates and "US" stamps. The markings themselves are largely illegible, due to several coats of paint. We don't have time to strip them all hunting the markings, thus no guarantees. Very Good to excellent condition.
