In 2013, a nuclear war occurs, forcing a large amount of Moscow's surviving population to relocate to underground metro stations in search of refuge from the outside world. Eventually, those who settled in the underground train stations developed their homes into independent station-countries. Soon, new factions grew, ranging from the independent peacekeepers the "Rangers of the Order", to the communist "Red Line" faction, to the fascist "Fourth Reich", which constantly engages in skirmishes with the former group, to the more powerful factions such as "Polis", which contains the greatest military power and the most knowledge of the past, and the "Hanza" regime, who controls the main ring of metro stations by its sheer economic power. As these small states began to evolve, the Red Line and the Fourth Reich quickly entered a permanent state of war, as both sought to destroy the other over their own ideology, no matter the cost. As the war raged, those stations who refused to join either side were either demolished by the factions, merged into the Hanza regime, raided by criminal bandits, or formed their own independent stations. Other stations were outright destroyed by animals who had been mutated by the nuclear maelstrom, and stalk the metro tunnels looking to kill anything for food. The most recently encountered, and the most dangerous, mutants that exist are the Dark Ones – paranormal, otherworldly, mutated humans who live on the ravaged surface, and have the psychic power to control human minds and alter a human's memories, psychically killing them with the power of their own minds. While most of the stations are controlled by the 3 main factions, several stations are abandoned, while some were butchered and are now occupied by mutants, but some stations formed an independent alliance like Exhibition station or Venice station.
Let me know what you guys think. Im a huge fan of the game, so as soon as all this new Russian stuff started to become available I knew I had to kitbash some figures that would fit into the games world. The nice thing too is some of the DAM spetsnaz figures fit in with how the soldiers in the game appear as well. I would really like to do a "Reich" and "Redline" soldier too. These are the Communist and Nazi enemies that comprise most of the human resistance you encounter in the game, other than bandits and thieves.
My first two figures are representations of Rangers, or a Polis faction of military sharpshooters. Their main base is D6, an old soviet war facility hidden off the main line and all Metro maps. This station makes them a target. The starving masses think it is full of food for the apocalypse. In reality it was meant for the military, and most of its stored goods are bioweapons that they now must protect from falling into the wrong hands. This team has been trained to counter these threats from the Metro tunnels to the vast toxic wastelands above, complete with gas masks and wrist mounted watches with geiger counters built in.
The Preved is a Metro made anti-materiel rifle, and fires a 12.7x108mm round. Its base weapon is the WWII-era PTRD with some adjustments to make it easier to carry and handle in the sewers of Moscow in 2033. Most rifles retain the standard single shot capacity as shown here. However traveling merchants and gun smiths will modify it to accept a 5rnd box mag.
Lastly is my civilian station guard. Sometimes they get paid, sometimes they are volunteers. Every entrance must be kept tight and guarded, and all the manpower they can get they need. This guy sports A gm94 pump action grenade launcher for heavily dispersing any large or mass threat. He carries only a full auto Aps and alot of magazines as back up. He has a mask just incase, but rarely ventures to the surface to actually use it. Preferring to stay at home and guard his family and neighbors. This trooper would be seen at an independent Metro station like Venice or Exhibition... or even one of the Polis stations.
